300 . . . 'This Is Sparta'

Ok, So after a very eventful & energetic Sinday
(Sorry, did I say Sinday) I meant Sunday hehe

Got everything ready for work, showered then curled up on the couch,
nicely chillaxed in my onesie, to settle down and watch . . . 300.

Had to do a little blog about this film, cause, well, basically,
It's fricking awesome.

It tells the story of the Spartan V Persian fallout,
which let's face it, was pretty damn brutal.
The poor Spartans didn't stand a chance against them,
but they still went out and gave it a damn good shot, these are
Men, Real Men, with Honour, Pride & Loyalty.
If a spartan boy is born, and he's not perfect, (Sickly or mis-shapen, I think is how they put it) he gets discarded, The ones that do get kept, are taken from their mothers at a very young age and taught to fight, and fight they can, it's bred in them, part of their make up, passed down from father to son, they're taught Never to retreat & Never to surrender, I think that's why, the Spartans, for me, were undoubtedly the finest Soldiers, the world has ever seen.

This film gives me goosebumps cause it's just so damn intense, from start to finish, it grabs ya, sucks you in and spits you out at the end,
(Well it did me anyway hehe) Although it did get some flack.

One of the best scenes below, he turns to his Queen, who gives him the nod, (thoughts in her head are, Kill the F**kers & kill em good)

So it's the battle of Thermopylae of 480 BC an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian army in the mountain pass of Thermopylae.
Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. Persian King Xerxes (Hate him btw) leads an army of well over 100,000 (Although, before the war, he has about 170,000) men to Greece and was confronted by . . .
300 Spartans, 700 Thespians and other slave soldiers.
Xerxes waited for 10 days for King Leonidas to surrender or withdraw left with no options that he moved. The battle lasted about 3 days and after which all 300 Spartans were killed :(((
This Spartan defeat was NOT expected, as a local shepard named Ephialtes, defected to the persians and informed Xerxes of a separate path through Thermopylae, which the Persians could use to outflank the Greeks.

The soundtrack for this film is absolutely amazing,
not for everyone, but it's perfect for the film
& gives me goosebumps on my goosebumps hehe

Lastly, the soundtrack :)))

TONIGHT, WE DINE IN HELL . . .

Felt real good watching this movie again, for the 300th time looool ^_^
(Can you tell i've got a lot of love for this film)

  1. Yeah 300 was an awesome movie, the voice over really helped make it. Definitely not a bad flick to watch.

  3. It's really terrifc filmmaking. The graphic novel by Frank Miller was such a cool book and it was great to see how closely they tried to ape the feeling and look of the original story.

  4. You my favorite pass time while watching 300? Turn everything they say super homoerotic. One of our friends won't watch it anymore because we ruined those oily spartans for her.

  9. LOVE GERARD BUTLER! Yummm!!! 300 was an ok movie, I just didn't appreciate the whole "supernatural" aspect of the movie. But chiseled naked men, yes please!!

  11. I've never seen 300 because I normally shy away from films that seem to be more driven by effects than a good plot. Then again, G. Butler is a dream so maybe one day I'll check it out.
